Test results can
sometimes take a while to become
available.
As a general rule:
- Most Blood
tests results are available
within a week.
- Routine X-Ray
results are back in about a
month (although they can take up
to 6 weeks).
- Cervical
Smear results are posted to you
directly from the primary
support agency within 8 weeks.
You should
always telephone the surgery
after this period of time to ask
for your results. There is an
option on the telephone
answering system to press and
you will be put through directly
to our results administrator. If
she is not at her desk, you may
leave a message and she will
return your call.
Please remember, the results
administrator is passing on
information given to her by your
doctor, she does not interpret
the results and cannot answer
medical queries about your
results. We will often ask
people to arrange a telephone
consultation if the result needs
explaining, asking you to call
does not mean that there is
something seriously wrong.
Alternatively the doctor may
write to you about the results.
We will always contact you as
soon as we receive your results
if any urgent action is
required.
