MBBS MRCP MRCGP DRCOG

Qualified University of London (St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School) (1989)
I first started working at Roundstone surgery nearly 30 years ago, going on to become a partner in 1998. Latterly I was managing and senior partner, involved in all aspects of running the practice alongside my clinical work as well as being joint Clinical Director of the Trowbridge Primary Care Network.

I retired from the partnership in April this year but hope to keep working as a GP for the next few years. I am enjoying being able to focus again on seeing patients and doing what I originally trained to do! Prior to training as a GP, I spent several years working in hospital medicine specialising in oncology and palliative care.

I live in the area and have 3 grown-up children, when away from work I play lots of tennis and enjoy watching other sports, theatre, music and reading. I also hold a level 1 certificate in wine tasting from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust!

Mrs Suzanne Petty is our Practice Manager, with overall responsibility for practice management.
I am the Practice Manager at Lovemead Group Practice, with overall responsibility for the smooth running and leadership of the practice. I began my career here in 1989 as a Medical Secretary and have progressed through a variety of roles over the years, moving into management in 2007 before taking on the role of Practice Manager in 2023. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and travelling; either exploring the UK in our touring caravan or flying further afield to Europe.

Mrs Tracy Wakeley

Administration

Behind the scenes are our extensive administration team which comprises medical secretaries and administrators.  All of them have a vital role to play in ensuring the smooth running of the practice’s systems and in ensuring services run as smoothly as possible for patients.  They also deal with financial claims, patient records and carry out searches and practice audits.

Reception

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses.

Nursing Team

Nursing Team

Primary Care Nurses and Paramedics work alongside the duty doctor of the day as part of the Duty Team. Patients requesting emergency appointments are assessed by a member of the Duty Team and offered either telephone advice or an appropriate appointment. Many emergency appointments are with one of the Primary Care Nurses who are trained to deal with minor illnesses and can obtain appropriate prescriptions for their patients. Four of our Primary Care Nurses are Nurse Prescribers and can generate and sign their own prescriptions.

Julie Allsop and Nicola Rajapakse are our practice nurses and are available for consultation by appointment Monday to Friday. They can help with dressings, injections, blood tests, blood pressure checks, urine testing and cervical smears. In addition they also run several clinics including child immunisations.

Our chronic disease management nurses are Lynne Jones, Tim Farmer, Jennifer Mitchell Grace Baaba and Nicola Rajapakse. Lynne and Grace run the diabetic clinics. Tim and Nicola look after our hypertensive patients.  The asthma/COPD clinics are run by Jennifer and Tim.

Julie offers family planning appointments and is available to discuss issues relating to family planning and sexual health.

Nurse Tim Farmer

Nurse Manager

Responsible for the Nursing and Paramedic Team.
Registered Nurse RN – BSc (Hons) – 2003

After graduating from university I worked at both the Bristol Royal Infirmary and the Royal United Hospital Bath, within acute medicine. Whilst working at the RUH Emergency Department, I joined Lovemead in 2005 working at the practice part-time until I joined full time in 2007. I now manage the nursing/paramedic team at the practice, and work clinically as one of the prescribing nurse practitioners.

Outside of work I have a wife and 2 children. We enjoy keeping fit and active as a family, travelling as much as possible in our campervan. I grew up by the coast in North Devon, where I developed a keen passion for water sports and have continued to sail/kitesurf/wing-foil and mountain bike when land-locked!
